Austin Police Involved in Shooting of Barricaded Person Saturday Night

Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Austin Police Department, were involved in an incident on Saturday in Lockhart, where a man was shot and injured after barricading himself inside a home.

It all started around 3 p.m. when the Lockhart Police Department received a 911 call about a physical assault on South Brazos Street. When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot. The victim was taken to a hospital, treated, and later released. The police determined that the man had been shot by another person, who ran away after the incident.

Law enforcement quickly worked together to find the suspect. They tracked him to a house on First Street, just about a mile from downtown Lockhart. Once they located him, the suspect barricaded himself inside the home.

Around 5:44 p.m., the Austin police SWAT unit was called in to help Lockhart officers. After a couple of hours, at 8 p.m., officers tried to arrest the man, but he resisted. During the attempt to arrest him, the man was shot. He was taken to the hospital, where he is now in stable condition.

Once the suspect is discharged from the hospital, Lockhart police plan to arrest him and book him into the Caldwell County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Thankfully, no officers were injured during the operation.

This incident involved cooperation from various law enforcement teams, and the situation ended with the man being safely arrested after medical treatment.
