CORYDON, Ind. – In a startling incident, an Indiana man has been taken into custody after allegedly making death threats against billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
Authorities identified the suspect as 28-year-old David Cherry, who now faces charges of intimidation following a series of threatening posts targeting Musk earlier in February.
The situation came to light when Texas law enforcement officials alerted the Indiana State Police about the threats on Tuesday. Following an investigation, Cherry was located and arrested without resistance in Clarksville, Indiana.
Upon securing a search warrant for his residence in Palmyra, authorities discovered a stockpile of weapons, including an AR-15-style rifle, a handgun, ammunition, and a ballistic vest. The presence of these items has heightened concerns about the potential seriousness of the threats.
Cherry has been booked into the Harrison County Jail, where he remains in custody without bond. Officials have not yet disclosed a possible motive behind his alleged threats.
