Teen Arrested After Eluding Police and Wrecking Stolen Kia in Temple, Texas

A teenager has been arrested and charged after leading authorities on a chase in a stolen Kia Soul before crashing the vehicle. Jaedyn Sanders, 18, faces charges of evading arrest or detention in a motor vehicle, a third-degree felony, and is being held in Bell County Jail on bonds totaling $7,000.

The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Feb. 16, when Bell County Sheriff’s deputies responded to assist the Temple Police Department near the 17100 block of N.E. H.K. Dodgen Loop following reports of car burglaries. Deputies spotted the stolen white Kia Soul and attempted to stop the vehicle. Sanders, the driver, failed to pull over, initiating a pursuit.

After a chase, Sanders crashed the vehicle in the 5000 block of South 31st Street near Water’s Dairy Road in Temple. The occupants of the car fled on foot, but two male suspects were apprehended with help from the Temple Police Department K-9 unit.

Sanders was booked into Bell County Jail on charges of evading arrest in a motor vehicle, evading arrest on foot, and an outstanding warrant for criminal trespass from the Temple Police Department. Justice of the Peace Larry Wilkey set Sanders’ bond at $5,000 for evading arrest on foot and $2,000 for criminal trespass. Sanders is still awaiting arraignment for the evading arrest in a motor vehicle charge.

Additionally, a juvenile was detained for evading arrest on foot. The Temple Police Department is investigating the reported vehicle burglaries and the theft of the Kia Soul.
