Sacramento Man Gets Over 13 Years Behind Bars for Fentanyl, Heroin Trafficking, and Illegal Weapons Charges

In a recent court ruling in Sacramento, Alberto Gonzalez Salgado, 45, was sentenced to 13 years and one month in prison. Along with his prison sentence, he was also ordered to forfeit $100,000 for his involvement in drug trafficking and firearms crimes.

Here’s the story: Between 2019 and 2020, Salgado was deeply involved in trafficking fentanyl pills, heroin, marijuana, and firearms. He even sold heroin and counterfeit oxycodone pills laced with fentanyl to a confidential source on multiple occasions. To run his illegal operation, Salgado kept a stash house in Sacramento where he grew over 100 marijuana plants and kept a firearm for protection.

The situation took a dangerous turn in October 2020 when law enforcement tried to stop Salgado’s vehicle on the way to a fentanyl pill deal. Instead of stopping, Salgado led officers on a high-speed chase that lasted for more than 90 minutes, putting both officers and the public at serious risk.

This investigation was a team effort, involving the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, the Sacramento Area Intelligence/Narcotics Task Force, and the California Highway Patrol. Assistant U.S. Attorney David W. Spencer handled the prosecution.

The case was part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF), a program that works to target and dismantle the most dangerous criminal organizations threatening the U.S.
