New Year’s Day Chaos: 10 Injured in Queens Nightclub Shooting, NYPD Says ‘Not Terror-Related’

On New Year’s Day, a violent shooting outside the Amazura nightclub in Jamaica, Queens, left at least 10 people injured. The incident, which took place around 11:18 p.m., prompted a heavy police response after multiple 911 calls reported gunfire at a private event.

According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), three to four men walked toward the venue and opened fire on a group of people standing in line outside, hitting several vehicles in the process. The attackers then fled the scene in a gray Infiniti sedan with out-of-state plates.

Police quickly reassured the public that the shooting was “not a terrorist attack,” clarifying any potential concerns in the wake of a deadly terror attack in New Orleans earlier in the day.

The victims, including six females and four males, were transported to nearby hospitals. Fortunately, none of them are in critical condition, and all are expected to survive. The nightclub, which has a capacity of 4,000 people and regularly hosts DJ performances, saw a massive police and ambulance presence after the shooting.

Authorities have launched an investigation, with officers actively searching for the vehicle involved. The violent event capped off a disturbing New Year’s Day, which also included a deadly terror attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans that claimed 15 lives and a Cybertruck explosion outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas.

Despite the chaos, NYPD officials assured that the shooting was unrelated to terrorism, continuing their investigation into the motives behind the attack.
