Cleveland Heights, Ohio, witnessed a breakthrough in a tragic case that shook the community. Two suspects are now in custody for the murder of 74-year-old Edith Moore, who was fatally shot inside her Randolph Road home in the early hours of January 4, 2025.
The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) apprehended the primary suspect, 23-year-old Amin Walker, on January 17 at a residence on E. 77th St. in Cleveland. Walker, a convicted felon on parole at the time of the crime, is now off the streets thanks to the relentless efforts of law enforcement.
A 16-year-old boy, the second suspect, was arrested earlier on January 9 and is being held at the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center. Both suspects face charges of murder and aggravated robbery.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m. on January 4 when Edith Moore was tragically shot in the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving her family and community heartbroken. Adding to the tragedy, an 18-year-old male inside the home suffered a gunshot wound to the leg but survived with non-life-threatening injuries.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott praised the collaborative efforts of the Cleveland Heights Police Department and NOVFTF in identifying and capturing the suspects. “This violent fugitive posed a threat to our community, and our officers worked relentlessly over the past several days to arrest him and take him off the street,” he stated.
The arrests bring some relief to the grieving community, but the loss of Edith Moore remains a painful reminder of the impact of violent crime. Authorities continue to investigate the case, ensuring justice is served for the victim and her family.
