Georgetown Police have arrested Timothy Hallman, a 63-year-old basketball coach at Georgetown High School, after a fight between assistant coaches escalated when he allegedly retrieved a handgun from his car. Around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to reports of a physical altercation in the school gym.
During the incident, Hallman went to his vehicle and retrieved a firearm before attempting to reenter the gym. Bystanders reportedly intervened and asked him to leave, preventing a more dangerous situation. Hallman complied and drove off campus. Later, with assistance from Georgetown County deputies, police went to his home and placed him under arrest.
The handgun was confiscated, and Hallman was booked into the Georgetown County Detention Center. He now faces charges for possession of a firearm on school property. A bond hearing is scheduled for Thursday morning. This incident has raised concerns about safety at local schools and the need for stricter policies regarding weapons on school grounds.
