A Manassas, Virginia, mother of three, LaToya Crabbe, has been indicted for second-degree murder following the fatal shooting of her husband, Curtis Crabbe, in October 2024. Crabbe, 35, a pharmacist, claimed she acted in self-defense when she fired at her husband, but a grand jury indicted her on Jan. 6, charging her with murder and using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
During a hearing on Jan. 14, prosecutors argued that the sheer number of bullets found in the weapon and the casings at the crime scene suggest that Crabbe reloaded the gun during the incident, contradicting her self-defense claim. The body of Curtis Crabbe was discovered in a basement bedroom, with evidence suggesting he was shot while cowering under a desk.
LaToya Crabbe, arrested on Oct. 21 after calling 911, told authorities she acted to protect her family, including her three young children. Her defense presented text messages sent by Curtis to LaToya the day before the shooting, in which he threatened to hurt the family. However, the court denied her bond, citing concerns about the possibility of her reloading the weapon.
LaToya Crabbe’s mother, Marilyn Martin, expressed frustration but emphasized hope for justice, stating, “She fired as many as it took to stop him, while he was an imminent threat.” The next trial date is set for March 3.
