Salvador Gonzalez Rivera, her 68-year-old son, appeared in court on charges of murder, after his mother succumbed to severe abuse while under his care. Originally accused of exploiting a vulnerable adult, the charges were upgraded following Consuelo’s tragic death in the hospital.
Authorities discovered Gonzalez lying in her own urine and feces, suffering from a broken hip, severe dehydration, and bed sores infested with maggots—conditions that painted a grim picture of neglect.
