A rideshare passenger was injured in a shooting early Saturday morning on the Dan Ryan Expressway in Chicago.
The incident happened around 1 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 94 near 53rd Street, according to Illinois State Police. The passenger, who was seated in the back of the rideshare vehicle, was shot when someone in another car opened fire.
The injured passenger, whose age and gender have not been disclosed, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The police did not provide any details about the person’s condition.
In response to the shooting, the northbound lanes of I-94 near 53rd Street were closed for several hours, starting at approximately 1:50 a.m. The closure allowed authorities to investigate the scene thoroughly. Traffic in the area remained disrupted until the lanes were reopened at about 5:15 a.m.
