A high-speed crash in Las Vegas left a 30-year-old man in critical condition late Friday night, with police suspecting impairment as a contributing factor. The incident took place around 11:30 p.m. near McLeod Drive and Palma Vista Avenue, close to East Desert Inn Road.
Andres Hernandez, the driver of a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500, lost control of his vehicle while traveling southbound on McLeod Drive. The truck spun out of control, left the roadway, and crashed into a block wall before overturning. Emergency responders rushed Hernandez to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Investigators suspect that both excessive speed and impairment may have played a role in the crash. Hernandez now faces multiple criminal charges, although no formal charges have been filed at this time.
This tragic event highlights the dangers of speeding and driving under the influence. Local authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution and avoid impaired driving, especially at night when accidents are more likely to occur. Witnesses to the crash are encouraged to come forward to assist in the investigation.
As the investigation continues, Las Vegas police emphasize the importance of safe driving practices to prevent similar accidents in the future.
