‘The Snowman’ Official Trailer: New Michael Fassbender Crime/Drama

First look at latest from director Tomas Alfredson

The Snowman is a 2017 thriller about a detective who investigates the disappearance of a woman whose pink scarf is found wrapped around an ominous-looking snowman.

From the director of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and the writer of Drive comes this new crime horror based on the bestselling book of the same name, The Snowman. Starring Michael Fassbender as Harry Hole, a seasoned detective and Rebecca Ferguson as a brilliant new recruit Katrine Bratt, the story centers on a the hunt for an elusive serial killer who has come at the start of winter.

Directed by Tomas Alfredson and written by Hossein Amini, the film looks to follow in the footsteps of some classics in the genre, including Jonathan Demme‘s The Silence of the Lambs and a bit of Christopher Nolan‘s Insomnia, both about exceptional killers with equally exceptional trackers on their tail.

The trailer is uncompromising and lays down a heavy tone from the start, emphasising a terrifying element of cat and mouse. The book puts a lot emphasis on the relationship between Hole and Bratt, one that is more than expected, and hopefully this translates well to the film. Filmed on location in Norway, the setting looks spot on and cinematoprapghy by Oscar winner Dion Beebe (Memoirs of a Geisha) look breathtaking. In support Charlotte Gainsbourg, Val KilmerChloë Sevigny and J.K. Simmons. The film is scheduled for release on October 20, 2017. Stay tuned for more details.
