Latest Deadpool Trailer Brings More of The Snark (and a lot of Colossus)

20th Century Fox released a Christmas trailer for its upcoming superhero(?) film, Deadpool. Starring Ryan Reynolds, this second trailer introduces fan favorite Colossus (Andre Tricoteux). While it was thought this was only going to be a cameo, Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld, during a Q&A at Amazing Hawaii Comic-Con suggested that the big man was not just a walk on but a fleshed out character:

You guys have seen a glimpse of him in the trailer; at San Diego in Hall H, they showed a little bit more of Colossus. You are going to love Colossus in Deadpool. He’s in it a good amount; he doesn’t just walk through the movie.

The trailer itself is more of the expected fun and sarcasm from Deadpool, a man genetically engineered to be invincible (except his face!) on a mission to hunt down the man who nearly ruined his life and after his best girl (Morena Baccarin). Reynolds has promised that this version of the character will be more authentic than the iteration (of which he played) seen in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) and much closer to the beloved comic book version. Based on what’s we’re seeing here, this could be a fun new direction in the current gritty trend in the superhero movies, though still keep that dark, twisted sensibility that has made Deadpool so popular.

The film is expected to be released in February 2016.
